Overview
Forensic engineering, which is similar to root cause
Failure Analysis, is typically considered the scientific application of various engineering principles and methodologies for the investigation of material, product, or structural failures specifically related to claims and litigation in the legal arena.
Forensic engineering can sometimes involve a number of different engineering disciplines that are used to determine why a particular failure occurred. It is used to investigate and analyze what may have gone physically wrong in a given application or scenario and also to identify any probable mitigation.
